The brand name Henney comes from the head international designer and founder Mr. Henney. Henney was inspired during a trip to Tournai (Modern Day Belgium) in the mid-1990s. He was attracted by the 2000-year-old history of the town, in particular Tapestry art which spans back to the 15th and 16th centuries. This sparked the idea of Henney bear to create products blending traditional art with modern fashion elements.
Tapestry art is unique and different in its own way. They are not made using any machinery. The tapestry art is handwoven with threads and different colors. This makes our products whole different. Henney’s first range honored the artistic and traditional tapestry works featured by famous British artist, William Morris. Simultaneously, to proudly celebrate Henney Bear’s origin, the United Kingdom, the first release of teddy-themed works featured the Crown Bear theme which honored the worldwide renowned Queen of England and the British Royal family.
